History
During 1998, a group of concerned citizens in St. Clair County met to discuss the problem of juvenile crime. Headed by Juvenile Court Judge Jim Hill, a committee was formed to investigate ways to decrease juvenile delinquency within the county.

A plan was proposed to develop a Day Treatment Program for high-risk adolescents and their families. The program would provide direct services including academic remediation, GED preparation, individual, group, and family counseling. The counseling services would address issues such as mental health, alcohol/substance abuse and prevention.

On January 5, 1999, St. Clair County Day Program, Inc. a Day Treatment Program for high-risk adolescents began receiving male and female youth ages 11-18 from the St. Clair County Juvenile Court System. With a current enrollment of 75 students, the program is thriving and effectively providing academic remediation, individual, group, and family counseling on a daily basis.

The St. Clair County Day Program operates on a year-round basis. Students attend the program Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Office hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Services are provided by a staff composed of professionals in the fields of counseling and education. Funding is a result of a community wide collaborative effort that includes: Pell City and St. Clair County School System, St. Clair County Juvenile Court System, The Bridge, Inc., and various grant sources.
